It's now time to go back to the jetty and wait for our boat back to town...

On the way we see these signs telling us the distances to various towns (Jerusalem, Santiago de Compostela, Skáholt and Rome), stand in front of it for a few minutes wondering "that's weird, the Santiago one's pointing towards the North Pole...???"
Then we realise that the strong winds have loosened and some of them around - *duh*!!!
We've been on the island for nearly 3 hours, most of it spent walking around, so we are dying for lunch (and a drink!) as soon as we get back to town. We hit the recently opened Cafe Oliver in town centre. On the menu we find "salted fish brandat on toast with fresh rucola", which sounds interesting, though we don't know what a "brandat" is - and neither does our waitress. Oh well, we order it anyway...
It turns out to be a mixture of semi mashed fish with potatoes, milk?, garlic, etc. etc. A bit salty but nice, goes well with the Spanish dry white.

Another mysterious item on the menu: "brick dough" (misspelt as brick doug.) Does anyone have an idea what that could be?? Otherwise we'll just have to try that next time to find out...
We have an hour to kill before the opening at Kling og Bang (the gallery) across the road, so we decide to walk down to Klink og Bank (the artists' space) to have a proper look at the sound art exhibition. Except now it starts to rain heavily, and a 10-minute walk doesn't sound like a good idea. We head to the nearest art institution, Living Art Museum, only to find that they have an opening at 4PM too and shut until then. So we run to the next nearest, Safn.
I can't remember the title of this piece or who it's by, but UsaKousa had fun looking through it.
After that, another sound art exhibition at ASI museum, and then back to Kling og Bang at 4PM, where we are told by the artists that the opening will now be at 5PM (typical Icelandic!) So we go to the Living Arts Museum where the opening is delayed as well (typical Icelandic!!) We hang around for a bit and have a quick look at the show, not getting what it's all about, then head home...

It was a great day, but now we need a long bath (and another drink :-)
